Urgent Care in Cleveland

Monday morning we woke up and got ready for a long day at Cedar Point (the roller coaster capital of the world). Unfortunately Skylar’s stomach was upsetting him quite a bit, which kept him running to the bathroom. Something definitely seemed wrong — this was the second day that Skylar’s stomach was giving him problems. Because of this, we made a visit to an urgent care instead of the theme park.

The doctor couldn’t really pinpoint the problem but he gave Skylar a prescription that seemed to do the trick. We decided to have a slow day and found a McDonalds to hang out in (for the free wi-fi). This helped us get caught up with some work and read the new Harry Potter book 🙂

Cleveland Indians, Progressive Field

The Indians played the Minnesota Twins. The game took off right away with 5 runs between the two teams after the first inning. But then the twins started dominating when Cleveland gave up several runs on errors and Minnesota won 12-5. We sat in a 100s section for the first time this season so we got a pretty decent view of everything and were close to the action.

Cedar Point

What a theme park!! They have some crazy roller coasters, including Top Thrill, which used to be the tallest and fastest in the world until Kingda Ka beat it (we rode that one a couple of weeks ago!). My favorite coaster was Millenium Force – fast, smooth, tall, exciting. Skylar’s favorite coaster was GateKeeper. When you board the coaster you are on “wings” that extend to the right and left of the center of the coaster, which makes you feel like you’re soaring high above the ground that twists around and sends you upside down. The ride gets its name from these two vertical “gates” that the coaster twists its way through. Other fun roller coasters we rode on: Maverick, Valravn, WindSeeker.

Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park

After a crazy fun day at Cedar Point we got back in the car (hot, sweaty, stinky) and drove a couple hours up to Detroit, Michigan so we could watch the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. They were playing the White Sox. I was surprised how beautiful the cityscape was from the ballpark. I particularly enjoyed that you could see a Wyland Whaling Wall on the Broderick Tower from the stadium. (For those that don’t know, Wyland is a local Laguna Beach artist who has painted 100 giant whale murals throughout the world.) After 4 slow innings, Detroit dominated with a 6 run inning in the 5th and ended up with a 11-5 win. Yay!! Go Tigers.
